I recently discovered Clare Maguire thanks to the BBC Sound of 2011 competition in which she came 5th (should have been higher if you ask me!)
Since then I’ve gone through her back catalogue on Youtube and find her music intoxicating, her voice is very striking – reminiscent on Annie Lennox & Cher. The Birmingham born popette has been active in the musical world since the age of 17 by uploading demos onto Myspace. Unfortunately her music never made it into the mainstream, all that is set to change with the release of her upcoming track Last Dance.
I also just found out via her Twitter feed (@claremaguire) That she will be supporting the equally brilliant artist Hurts at the Leeds 02 Academy this Sunday, I think I’ll be visiting a tout!
