What you should be listening to this week: Daft Punk, Little Boots & AlunaGeorge | TQS Magazine

What you should be listening to this week as selected by Fraser Bone of PEARL NECKLACE

Little Boots – Broken Record

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Little Boots. I think her tracks are always very under rated. Take Shake and Motorway for example, the latter being produced by house sensation Maya Jane Coles, these tracks slipped under the radar a little I feel, but she’s back with a new take from her upcoming album Nocturnes in the form of  ’Broken Record’ which I think has to be the best so far. Its spiralling electronic beats make this catchy from the get go. Team this up with Little Boot’s signature raspy vocals and it seems to me that ‘Broken Record’ is set to be a hit (to all of the right people)

AlunaGeorge – Attracting Flies (Baauer Remix)

You may or not know by now that I have a bit of a fixation with AlunaGeorge at the minute. After posting the original of this track a few weeks ago I thought it’s time it reared its head in another form – remixed by the man behind the viral sensation ’Harlem Shake’Baauer. There are quite a few good remixes of Attracting Flies out just, for example the Shift K3y Remix which is available as a free download by singing up the band’s website! But this new one from Baauer has to be the best. The production features fresh sounds that are nowhere to be heard at the minute! Also I love anything AlunaGeorge do because I’ve came to the conclusion I quite fancy the mysterious George!

Jessie Ware – Imagine If It Was Us

This new track by the amazing Jessie Ware has been produced by the one and only Julio Bashmore it got its first radio play on Annie Mac’s show on Friday (sorry about the rubbish radio rip) where Julio described the track as sounding like ”an early Madonna track” and I can see his point. Personally, after such a great success with her debut album ‘Devotion’, this is the route that Jessie should be going down. This track is a bonus track on the Gold Edition of Devotion and is available to pre-order from iTunes now.

Daft Punk – Digital Love

With the internet going wild for the new Daft Punk album Random Access Memories which drops in May, I was surprised when the other day Digital Love came on shuffle on my iPod. It had me grinning ear to ear for 3 minutes 58 seconds! By the sound of the clip of new Daft Punk material the French godfathers of EDM are sticking to their trademark sound! Roll on May!

As always if you liked the sounds listed here tune in to my radio show, PEARL NECKLACE every Wednesday from 3pm live on Subcity Radio.
