Bringing the best French live electronic music to the UK, Oui Love, now in its fourth year, returns to this side of the channel this week for 3 gigs in London, Brighton and Manchester. Supported by the French Music Bureau & The Institut Français, Oui Love launched in 2009 with this year’s talent looking better than ever. The three acts performing are:
JUPITER – a French-English duo hailing from Paris whose first single “Starlighter” hit the blogosphere in 2009. Since then, they’ve lent their disco and electro-funk sound to remixes for Metronomy, Anoraak and Two Door Cinema Club and have appeared on compilations from Ministry Of Sound, Valérie and Kitsune´. Watch the video for their latest single “Juicy Lucy (Needs a Boogieman) which we absolutely love:
JUVENILES – no strangers to the UK’s musical shores, having wowed a packed-out crowd for their set at The Great Escape earlier this year. Namechecking influences such as New Order and Cut Copy, Juveniles’ crooning vocals lilting on a wave of bewitching electronic pop is something akin to a new wave Scott Walker.
YAN WAGNER’s harmonious beatbox and vintage synth-laden compositions would be more likely to be heard from the DJ decks rather than a stage. His skill as a producer is equalled by his finesse as a performer; while many of his producer contemporaries hide behind a tower of machines, Wagner has enamoured crowds in support slots with the likes of Air, Goldfrapp, and Midnight Juggernauts
