TQS StaffKickstarter, the crowd-funding platform, has been around since 2009 but it’s only recently thanks to campaigns such as the Veronica Mars movie and Zack Braff’s Garden State follow-up that it has made the headlines and become a viable way to fund film production. However, not all campaigns have the benefit of a huge star or fanbase so occasionally on TQS we like to highlight a project which we feel deserves your (and our) backing. Introducing, ‘Camelot’, a short film by Brixton based Blindeye which needs to raise £7,000 in order to begin shooting.
Urinals, pool halls, nail bars, a Ford Capri and scratch card. A suburban noir about rumour, inheritance and fatal attraction.
Camelot is dark comedy about hearsay, opportunity and fate. It’s a noir crime caper set in a small suburban town on the outskirts of London. A place full of wonderful characters.
Nothing ever came easy to Claudia, she had to fight for everything she ever got. The one thing she was promised was a 1981 Ford Capri, a gem of a car that her father had restored to a near new condition. However, when hard times fell on the family, the car was sold, and Claudia’s dreams of escape dissipated.
When Claudia discovers the car back up for sale there’s nothing she won’t do to get it back. Claudia hears a rumor in her local nail bar that may just be the solution to getting what is rightfully hers. This film will keep you on the edge of your seat and will challenge the audience to try and piece together the crime, in the style of the Coen’s, Alexander Payne and Rian Johnson.
