TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Watch | TQS Magazine

Whenever I am asked by a male what timepiece they are wearing it is very much ‘Oh fabulous! Let’s show the whole world what I am wearing on my wrist!’ It’s a macho trait, I believe. Let’s face it, females have to give males the benefit of the doubt and notice that most of the time a watch is the only accessory they can really flaunt.

So breaking it down to a particular timepiece, I explored luxury watches on The Watch Gallery. A personal favourite of mine would have to be the Tag Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day Date Automatic Men’s Chronograph Watch. A mouthful when you read it (try saying it) but this is a mighty timepiece.

The first feature that stands out is the very large dial, which is very manly. I do think men seem to prefer their accessories to be big. The correct size dial is important, you may prefer a large dial but if it doesn’t look great on your wrist then it’s pretty much a no go. This is definitely a sporty number but it’s still suitable to wear with casual or smart attire.

Let’s get a bit a technical for horologists out there. This particular piece has a 43mm polished steel case with an amazing open case-back to view the automatic movement. If you are a watch connoisseur you will really appreciate that the movement within this watch is C.O.S.C certified. This stands for Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute, which certifies the accuracy and precision of wristwatches in Switzerland. So it’s a pretty big deal.

The fine art of Swiss watch construction takes time and a great deal of patience. My hat goes off to any watchmaker out there who delivers such beautiful pieces of luxury that not only look great but function superbly too.
