Robert Powell to join the cast of Singin’ in the Rain | TQS Magazine

Don Lockwood is a silent movies star with everything he could want – fame, adulation and even a well-publicised ‘romance’ with his co-star Lina Lamont.  But Hollywood is about to change forever. There is rumour in the studio of a new kind of film, where the actors actually talk… and sing… and dance.

Film and television star Robert Powell (Holby City, The 39 Steps) is now on stage in Singin’ in the Rain at the Palace Theatre, as the five star West End production announces the release of over 300,000 new tickets, taking bookings to 1 September 2013. The news coincides with the 60th anniversary of the release of the iconic 1952 MGM film version starring Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynold

Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film and produced by arrangement with Maurice Rosenfield, Lois F Rosenfield and Cindy Pritzker Inc, the stage production of Singin’ in the Rain aims to emulate all the spectacle of the film, for example, 14 tonnes (14,000 litres) of water is pumped from, recycled and pumped back into a 10 ton water tank in the orchestra pit during each performance at the Palace Theatre!

Singin’ in the Rain is now booking until 1 September 2013, prices range from £15 to £65 and can be booked on the box office line (0844 412 4656) or through the website – www.singinintherain.co.uk
