Global bag brand Eastpak have tasked 77 artists and fashion designers from around the world to create a range of limited edition products. Having had a snoop around the Eastpack Artists Studio here are my four favourites, granted you probably wouldn’t wear some of them to pop to the shops but the creativity put into these concepts is mindblowing. Who would have thought you could make a rucksack into art?
1. Singer and businesswoman Bimba Bosé is my first choice with her bold design. I get the impression the artists’ explanations of their designs have been run through Google Transalte (or I’m a phillistine) as her description is pretty bemusing. Cool bags though.
“three styles dedicated to a life in which we have to be alert or act discreetly. OIR (Hear) portrayed by ears, VER (See) portrayed by eyes, and HABLAR or CALLAR (Speak) portrayed by mouths”
2. Next up is the design of Italian Marco Mantovani, known in art circles as KayOne. It’s hard not to look at this bag and smile, using the bag as a canvas Mantovani contrasts strokes of vivid colour agaisn’t the white background with the result being this beaut:
3. London-based artist Jamie Brown creates the perfect wedding gift for the couple that have everything with this his n’ her pair:
4. Kay Wong, Creative Director, finishes our selection with her glam gothic chic creation:
