Men’s Fashion Finds #4: Newgen Men | TQS Magazine

In a break from our regular fortnightly men’s fashion blog, we’re taking a quick trip to the UK capital to take a look at the recipients of SS13 Newgen Men – a prize provided by The British Fashion Council and Topman of mentoring and support for six of London’s cutting-edge menswear designers. They’ll present their new collections at the first ever London Collections : Men next month in June. London Collections : Men is the first dedicated fashion week for menswear we’ve seen in the country, so this is Pretty Big Stuff.

To celebrate, we’re taking a look at the SS12 collections of the two Catwalk winners – Luo Dalton and Sibling. Dalton (above), an ambitious young designer, has previously worked for Hamish Morrow, Stone Island, Crucianni Knitwear and Charlie Allen. Her style is British, sporty and just that little bit cutting edge. There’s an attention to detail in the cut of the designs that add a luxury quality to the simplest of pieces. Her SS12 collection included soft jackets, a range of smart and casual shorts as well as a number of shirts we’d gladly take of her hands if she had a few going spare. A subdued palette seems to be a favourite of Dalton, and we’re looking forward to seeing what she produces for next summer.

Sibling are a trio of three artists (one from our very own Yorkshire, go on love!) who came together in 2008. Boasting previous work with the likes of Alexander McQueen, Giles Deacon, Lanvin, Jonathan Saunders and Bella Freud, they are kind of like a fashion supergroup, only dressed significantly better than this. Doing things others daren’t in knitwear, this trio create strong pieces dashed with humour and smatterings of colour. We don’t care if it’s ROASTING outside, we’d totes rock these until we fainted. Newgen Men will be their first catwalk presentation, and we’re very, vey excited. Pass the aftersun.
