Ever wanted to see a TV series about a transsexual contract killer whose life is turned upside down when she finds out she has a son to a past lover who is now dying of cancer? Well you’re in luck! This August will see the launch of Hit and Miss, written by Shameless & State of Play creator Paul Abbot to be screened on Sky’s new Atlantic channel.

Interestingly, Abott is looking to cast a transsexual actor in the role, might seem obvious but mainstream films & TV with transsexual characters tend to cast non-trans actors in the roles – Transamerica and Boy’s Don’t Cry to name just a couple. Whilst both Huffman & Swank gave excellent performances I welcome the move to cast a trans-actor in the role as a refreshing departure from big studios’ habits.

Executive producer Nicola Shindler said: “It’s odd, funny, violent and moving – all in equal parts.” (Source: The Sun)

This may be one to upgrade to Sky Atlantic for!
